Doncaster Clothes Swap
Swap, Mend, Rewear
Four free community clothes swaps in Doncaster. Bring what you don't wear, leave with something you'll love.
The average UK wardrobe holds clothes worn fewer than seven times, while 711,000 tonnes of clothing is thrown away every year. A swap is the simplest way to change that: good clothes get a second life, nobody spends a penny, and everyone goes home with something new to them.
Our first two swaps are part of Sustainable Fashion Week, where we are the Official Doncaster Hub.
Dates
Saturday 26 September, 10am to 1pm
Doncaster Unitarian Church, 60 Hall Gate, DN1 3PB
Saturday 3 October, 11am to 2pm
DGLAM, Paddington Room, first floor, Chequer Road, DN1 3BZ
Saturday 21 November, 11am to 2pm
DGLAM, Paddington Room
Saturday 12 December, 11am to 2pm
DGLAM, Paddington Room
All events are free. No booking needed. Everyone welcome.
How it works
Bring clean, wearable clothes, bags or accessories. Everyone gets five swap tickets on arrival, plus one extra ticket for every item you bring in, up to ten. One ticket gets you one item.
Nothing to bring? Come along anyway. You'll still get your five tickets.
Drop your items in thirty minutes early so the rails are full when browsing starts.
Donations welcome
You don't have to wait for the day. We're glad to take clothing donations ahead of each swap, and if your group or workplace would like to run a collection point, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch at info@fashion-fusion.co.uk.
Nothing goes to waste
Anything not swapped is sorted and passed to local charities including Phoenix and The Clothing Bank, so it reaches people who need it. Items beyond wear go for textile recycling. Nothing is thrown away.
Make more of what you already own
A swap is a good start, but the real change happens at home. On the day we'll be introducing people to Closet Remix, a free app built here in Doncaster that helps you build outfits from the clothes already in your wardrobe. Have a look at closetremix.co.uk, or sign up with us on the day.
Also on Saturday 26 September
Denim upcycling with Sewn by Sadie Bee, and a mending and sewing table with Alison Greer of The Love & Stitches Studio.
Doncaster Wardrobe Rescue is a Fashion Fusion CIC project, funded through the Doncaster Environment Fund with support from SUEZ recycling and recovery UK and City of Doncaster Council, awarded through ActionFunder.
Wear it again - Fashion, Community & Circular Style
Eighteen years ago, our founder was a fashion design student. On Wednesday she's going back as a panellist.
Estelle studied BA (Hons) Fashion Design from 2005 to 2008. On 24 September she'll be at the New Adelphi Theatre for Wear It Again – Fashion, Community and Circular Style, speaking on two panels about business ethics and sustainability.
Some of what the panels will dig into:
→ Where the biggest impact really sits — production, supply chains, consumption or waste
→ What thrift, repair, resale and upcycling can genuinely do, and where their limits are
→ Where an SME should actually start, when cost and commercial pressure are real
→ How a business knows its sustainability work is doing something, rather than just looking like it is
That last one is the one that shaped this app.
Closet Remix exists because the most sustainable garment is nearly always the one already hanging in your wardrobe. Most of us just can't see what we've got. So we built something that helps you plan outfits, find your colours and watch what each piece costs you falling every time you wear it.
Not a shopping app. No adverts, nothing sold, and your wardrobe stays on your device.
We're built by Fashion Fusion CIC, which means profits are locked to community work rather than shareholders.
Style smarter. Own less. Use what you have. Love more.
Roots to Renewal - Big Lunch
We're back, and we couldn't be more excited.
Friday 5th June 2026 we're hosting our second Big Lunch, with the brilliant support of the Eden Project.
This year we've moved to a central spot, and it couldn't be more fitting. The Rail Room at Danum Gallery is where our Roots to Renewal journey reached its finale fashion show - and where you'll find the natural dye garden we planted almost a year ago, still growing.
Come and share a lunch with us, and meet the team:
- Gaynor and the volunteers from Rossington Community Repair Workshop - bring your clothing and household items for repair
- Susan of Artfelt - on hand to show you how to make your own fixes on a sewing machine
- Amy of Recipe 4 Change - inviting you to make a lovely crumble
- Angela of Plantaura - running a seed swap and planting in upcycled loo rolls
- Estelle of Fashion Fusion and Jaz of Sketch and Bloom - there to welcome you
Free, drop-in, and open to all.
Danum Gallery, Library & Museum - Rail Room Friday 5 June, 12 – 2pm
We can't wait to welcome our community. See you there.
